Evening all.

I am from a PHP / Curl background where its easy to put whatever referrer and useragent you want in a script.

Can Winautomation do that - I know UBot can't do that yet so if your software does, it sort of decides which one I am going to buy!

Cheers.

If you're using the "Download from web" function you can set a user agent.

If you have been using curl, below you can find the options of the "Download from Web" action and the switches/options in curl that they correspond to:

- If you choose the post method, the post parameters that you define are everything that you put in the -d option in curl.
- In the Advanced tab, the "Follow Redirection" option corresponds to the curl's -L option.
- The "User Agent" option is the -A option in curl (you just select the User Agent from the drop down list)
- WinAutomation handles the "Download from Web" action's cookies internally, so the -b and -c options are not needed.

You can always use curl with the "Run DOS Command" action if you need something else. You can download it from curl.haxx.se and the webpage output will be saved in the output variable of the action. I have been using curl a lot back in WinAutomation v2 since there was no "Download from Web" action, but till now, all the tasks that I could automate with curl, can also be automated with "Download from Web".

Not to butt in but I thought I might add something that could help future readers. I think the comparison you're making between Winautomation and other "automation" programs like the one you've mentioned is a very false one.

Winautomation is a very sophisticated program used by NASA, Fortune 500 company's and many of the world's most prestigious firms, universities etc.

The closest thing you'll find on the market to this product costs about $1,000 to $2,000+. Don't believe me? Check the software's stellar Download.com rating. You know those editorial reviews can't be bought on WF or DP.....

I'm not telling people they don't have the right to do whatever they choose to with their money and their software. I'm just saying that if cash is what you are after, this program can help you build a very sustainable business model that helps you automate PROCESSES not just TASKS.

What do I mean? When I say processes, I mean instead of breaking your back to automate a series of mundane tasks, what if you could actually AUTOMATE your AUTOMATION??!

By that I mean Winautomaton (and Network Automaton too for that matter...I am mentioning this product to give you real unbiased advice), will help you integrate the power of every single application you have - NOT JUST WEB AUTOMATION but SYSTEM AUTOMATION.

Stretch your mind! You can use a text to speech program to make calls from skype, then record the outcome; or....what about downloading data with the "Download from Web" action.....analyzing it in excel...charting it in powerpoint......creating a report in Word where the title of recipients are spun automatically depending on whether or not they are a guy or a woman (notice you haven't done anything but pressed "play" in this whole process...), ftping- the information up to your website, emailing off to your list the results, then turning off the computer when it's done...

Talk about skynet? Automation ftw...lol

There is so much business potential in business process vs. task automation, I hope anyone who might be into black hat or grey hat understands the real value of having a tool normally only affordable to large corporations at their disposal.

I've tested virtually every automation program out there and know them like the back of my hand. The only thing that I could see being more sophisticated at this point is bpA 7 - HERE'S A video link:
